For me it's a great game with all its flaws. There are so many different things to tell about this game that could have been a masterpiece. The fighting system needs some practice, but you'll learn it fast. You move around crates to climb on a roof otherwise out of reach, you move planks to "repair" a damaged bridge, you throw objects, stones or even emptied weapons on your enemies. What made this game way ahead of its time was the physical system it features - while it is lackluster, it still is fascinating to experiment with. The whole experience manages to suck you in the game's world - nothing detracts you from the illusion of seeing through the eyes of your alter ego, even your health indicator is implemented in the gameworld in a very clever way. The dinosaurs you'll encounter follow their different behaviours and even if they are not of the most intelligent kind, they sometimes feel menacingly real. What first comes to my mind if I think on this game: It's huge, open world and manages to evok a feeling of loneliness and desperation.
Stranded on a giant island that's inhabitet by - you guess it - prehistoric monstrosities, you explore the remnants of a great vision: A Jurassic Park. These attacks seemed to be thoroughly executed- they followed a sort of "raid" mentality, so it seemed.Īccording to a single DinoHunt scouting expedition, this could be the work of something even more frightening.I confess: I love this game! Yes, it's buggy and difficult to play - but it's one of the most original games I've ever played. Yetis seem to follow no pattern- they seem to act out of sudden rage or anger- mostly during their mating periods. DinoHunt Corp had colonies and camps attacked by Yetis. But it was soon proven not to be the work of these primate-like creatures. At first it was the assumed work of the " Yeti"- sometimes spotted in the original arctic tour. Multiple outposts or campsites had been trashed. But here's where DinoHunt Probes discovered the unfortunate truth. Nothing as extraordinary as what you may recall in earlier tours, but it's evidence that colonies may have been attempted. There are in fact remnants of these expeditions still out here. Needless to say, very little of the arctic could house such beings used to a tropical environment, thus the expeditions failed, and the Ancients stopped sending explorers. The ancients had no permanent civilization (at least that we are aware of) but it seems that they led at least a few expeditions to try and find a habitable region. This was presumed to be because the Ancients had merely never ventured this far up north, but recent evidence shows this to be false. The Ancients inevitably discovered the Arctic, however the original Arctic tour featured no trace of the Ancients. Thick fur pelts, massive amounts of feathers, or just pure body fat keep these creatures going. Life has adapted to even these frigid environments. However, in the Far North, temperatures reach an even lower point. The mammals that inhabit the first Arctic sector tour are formidable and tough, no doubt. However, this new tour is located to the far north. The first Arctic tour was located in very frigid environments- no doubt. This gave a refuge to supernatural forces wishing to be left alone.
The Arctic sector saw very little inhabitance from the Ancient civilization. However, these sectors were habitable to the Ancients. The Velociraptor Temple in the Central Sector and the Dory Temple in the Triassic are just two examples. Plenty of supernatural forces have an effect on the warmer sectors.
Up here, little more than hair covered, feathered, or blubbery creatures can survive.
